Dear Blog Friends;

I saw this on the television this morning. I enjoyed watching and listening to this immensely; therefore, I looked it up on you tube to share it with you. Hope this delightful music blesses you today, much like it has blessed me.

Yesterday was my birthday and I must say it was a very blessed day.

Thank you to everyone who made my day special! Flowers, dinner out, birthday cards and many well wishes, and some very thoughtful gifts ~ indeed every act of kindness was appreciated. I was humbled by all the birthday wishes I received from friends that I stay in touch with on facebook. How grateful I was to receive all those well wishes. I believe with all my heart that the reason we are here on this beautiful earth is because God wants us to reach out to others. I believe HE wants us to serve others, have faith in HIM, and open ourselves to positive energy through positive thoughts. Above all, I believe that love is supreme and that we should share love through a smile, a kind word, encouragement, or even a small act of sacrifice. This is what I believe helps our spirits to grow in a way that pleases HIM.

Facebook makes it really easy to share a kind word and encouragement. I use facebook for positivity. I have found many positive beautiful pages that I have "liked" to keep my spirit full of positive energy. I have listed some of the pages below:

As I write my post, I must admit there are many times when I do not reach out enough. I know there are times when my schedule becomes quite busy and hectic and I cannot complete all the things that I want to do. There are many times when I need to send a card, or go to the funeral home or pay someone a visit that it doesn't get done. For that I truly apologize. Please know it is not my intentions to hurt you or anyone. You may not know that you are in my heart and I am thinking of you and sending out prayers to you. The balance isn't always perfect for me as a working Mother but I will try this year to do a much better job of it.

When someone hurts us with words, we must not hold on to anger, resentment and thoughts of revenge. Instead we should embrace forgiveness and move forward. We must let go of suspicions, grudges, bitterness and hatred from our minds, this will help us to acquire more space in our hearts for love and devotion towards our fellow mankind and God.

I love the movie "It's A Wonderful Life"

If you've never watched it, I hope someday you will. The movie follows the life of George Bailey (played by Pennsylvania's own Jimmy Stewart who grew up in Indiana, PA which is where I attended college) who is a small-town man whose life seems so desperate he contemplates suicide. George has always dreamed of leaving Bedford Falls to see the world, but circumstances and his own good heart have led him to stay. George has sacrificed his education for his brother's, kept the family-run savings and loan afloat, protected the town from the of the greedy banker Mr. Potter, and married his childhood sweetheart. As he prepares to jump from a bridge, his guardian angel Clarence intercedes, showing him what life would have become for the residents of Bedford Falls is he had never lived. Really, George had no idea of how much he touched each and every life in Bedford Falls. It is a grand ending to the movie which always brings tears of joy to my eyes.

I am reading a book by Vince Lombandi, Jr and John Q Baucom, PH.D entitled "Baby Steps to Success."

Here are some words of wisdom from the book.

TO achieve, you must first believe. No success is possible without a strong sense of belief in yourself. It is a vital and fundamental foundation without which success is impossible. As with the Packers in the pre-Lombardi era, initially your self-belief may be quite low. Find the seed of positive self-belief elsewhere. Become infected by other sources of "belief energy." It might be from another person. It might be from this book or from tapes. But begin at the basic belief level. Begin to believe in yourself- even if it comes from outside of you.

So easy! Just melt Hershey’s kisses onto tiny twist pretzels (275 degrees, 3 minutes), remove, and immediately press a single m&m; on each. Refrigerate until eating to make sure they are deliciously solid!

A wonderful lady blessed us by donating a truckload of items to our sale. My husband, one of my sons, and I went to her house to pick up the items. Visiting at her home was a blessing indeed. She had the most charming, polite, witty and helpful children. You could tell her house was filled with love. She donated games and books because they have many of them. They love to play games and read since they don't watch TV. Isn't that WONDERFUL! NO TV!!! Honestly, I think she is a very smart lady!

I also received a surprise visit from another lovely lady. She stopped by my house and said she had items for the church sale. She had seen my posting on facebook that I would pick up items if anyone was cleaning out. I was so pleasantly surprised! I love the absolute goodness of people in my hometown.

Today's story is about a clerk...

I learned to love you today.

You're miserable and probably one of the rudest people I've ever come

across.

When I approach you, you turn away and pretend that I am not there,

until you're ready.

I have tried a thousand times to make you smile and you have tried a

thousand times not to.

I have dreaded even having to deal with you. I even tried coming at

another time only to find you there at all hours.

The hard, staid, look on your face remains unchanged no matter what day

it is, what time it is or even what season.

A "Beautiful day!" gets a moan.

"Hello, how are you today?" always returns "The same."

I have given up on you, I have been angered by you, I have even thought

about complaining to the manager, but didn't.

Then one day I caught myself acting just like you and realized that I

must stop.

I finally resolved myself to the fact that you are who you are and I

cannot change that.

You are a fact of my life and I must learn to deal with it.

You made me.

The one day that I permitted myself to return the emptiness, rude

behavior, terrible attitude and silent treatment, you chose to say

something.

I approached the checkout and you said, "Are you Okay?" I was stunned. I

could actually feel my brow, my entire face scrunch up apparently angry

that you would ask.

"Am I okay?" I said in disbelief.

"Yes." you replied. "You are usually so upbeat and chipper."

I stood in this dream-like state confused by what was going on.

You looked at me and said, "I depend on you to lift my spirits every

time you come in. I work three jobs, my bills are piling up, my kids

need clothes for school, my husband left me and three weeks later I

found out I have cancer."

I was speechless.

"Now you come in with this attitude today," she said.

I actually apologized.

I never considered that you were much more than a clerk. I never tried

to understand that behind that face was personal pain, life challenges

and loss.

Sure you should learn to separate work and life, but sometimes life digs

in, hurts, and you end up wearing it like an ugly dress. Fits, but no

one wants to see it.

Knowing now how difficult your life is I will see you through the eyes

of love.

Love is more than romantic. Love is compassionate. Love is kind.Love is

forgiving. Love is seeing beyond the pain.

Pay it Forward

Hello and Good Day Blog Friends,

I apologize for my absence from my blog. Life is so good and we have been busy with activities and work. One of our current activities is baseball! Both of our boys play ball. They are on different teams. We love watching them play baseball. We are so grateful for their coaches who spend so much time teaching them the game of baseball. My dear husband's work schedule makes it impossible for him to coach a team. I therefore decided, when I was asked to be on the board for our local youth baseball and softball association, to say yes. I enjoy being on this volunteer organization because two of my dear friends are also on the board. I attend meetings faithfully and I help out with scheduling parents to work in the concession stand.

I am still enjoying my new position at work immensely. It has been an awesome opportunity for growth and learning. I thank God for the opportunity. Prayer really does change lives.

We have also remodeled our kitchen and put in hardwood flooring at our house. It is all so very lovely. (Pictures coming in another post soon.) Those are a few of the reasons why I took a break from the blog.

Now, on with the reason for this post. Pay it Forward.

This past winter I managed to run out of gas in my vehicle while I was sitting at a red light. This was not fun! One evening shortly after that happened, I was coming home from a Y class and I noticed that once again the gas tank was reading empty. I knew I needed to fill the gas tank up right away. I stopped at the Sheets near the YMCA for gasoline. I went in to the sheets store so I could pay first before I pumped the gas. I told the clerk I would purchase $40.00 in gas. I got out my check book but to my surprise the checks were not in there. (Ugh!) They were in my purse at home. I do not carry my purse to the Y and had only grabbed the check book out of my purse before I left the house that evening. I didn't have any cash with me. I was worried. I was hoping I wouldn't have to push my car off the road again. I was going to be floating home on fumes.

It was then that the most amazing thing happened to me. A dear woman standing behind me in line who was waiting to pay, overheard me tell the clerk that my checks weren't in the book and that I wouldn't be getting any gas. This angel of a lady, with absolutely no hesitation, pulled out a twenty dollar bill and insisted that I take it and get gas so that I would not run out. I told her I would pay her back. She said not to worry about paying it back to her, but to pay it forward. I made it home safely thanks to her.

Pay it forward!

My heart leaped. Such a kindness! It was just like a story out of the Chicken Soup books! It was like one of those heart warming, good stories on Oprah. I payed it forward as she requested. It has become a very favorite thing of mine to do. I cannot begin to tell you how paying it forward has blessed me time and time again. I know there are many others who are currently paying it forward and I want to say Thank You!

Here is the concept of paying it forward.

Seek and watch out for ways to be of help to someone.
When you do help someone, do it without expecting anything back personally. It should be done with a selfless spirit.

A Mother

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the long way?" she asked.

And God answered her "Yes, this way is hard, and you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning."

But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, she fed them and bathed them, taught them how to tie their shoes and ride a bike, and reminded them to feed the dog and do their homework and brush their teeth. The sun shone on them and the young Mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."

Then the nights came, and the storms and the path was sometimes dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her arms and the children said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come."

And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children, a little patience and we are there."

So the children climbed and as they climbed they learned to weather the storms. And with this, she gave them strength to face the world.

Year after year she showed them compassion, understanding, and hopes, but most of all...unconditional love.

And when they reached the top they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you."

The days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she became little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. Starting a Water Container Garden on my Deck

Hi blog friends,

Hope all is well with you and yours sweet friends. I am sorry I have not posted for a while. As a working Mother it is important to have balance in my life in all areas and I find that it means I can't always put as much time into blogging as I would like. Although I work part time, my husband works full time plus. Today I am taking time to get off the treadmill of obligations, expectations, and responsibilities and get back to my authentic self. Time for my relationship with God, time for family, time for good friends and time for pursuing all that God has designed for me to be. Time to finish this blog post I started a long time ago!

In April we celebrated two birthday's. We celebrabed my Dad's birthday. We took Dad out to eat. Dad is a good sport and insisted that he was fine with going to the band spaghetti dinner fundraiser. After dinner we went to my Grandma's. She is so sweet she made him a chocolate cake.

My Dad is such a special man. He is so kind, generous and loving. This man is a wonderful father and I love him dearly. He constantly does for his children and grandchildren. I am truly blessed by God to have this man as my Dad. He is smart, funny and caring. He still makes time to enjoy his hobby of stamp collecting in between doing things for his family.

We also celebrated Garrett's birthday. I cannot believe my baby is eleven already.

Garrett is doing well in school and I am always proud of the report cards he brings home. Garrett still plays piano and trumpet. Garrett also plays baseball and his team had a great game the other night. They beat Apollo 12-2. Garrett played very well and had some nice hits!

These are some of Garrett's teammates. I'm looking forward to seeing a great season for these boys!

Here are some pictures from FCYBS opening day. I did not get the best pictures because I was also working in the concession stand and tried to run out of the concession in between customers for a few pictures of the opening ceremony.

Had two great days off work last week. I got Bear groomed at Pet Smart because I had a $10.00 off coupon. Danielle was the girl who groomed him and she did a wonderful job! She fluffed him up beautifully and conditioned his coat. Bear is so soft and handsome now. She did his nails, ears and trimmed him slightly. She also was very knowledgeable about Pomeranian's and made some wonderful suggestions on taking care of his beautiful coat. Here is a before the grooming picture. Sorry I didn't take an after picture. Just trust me, he is a soft little fluff ball of furr.

I made a trip to Sam's Club while Bear was being groomed and picked up a few lovely items. I am excited to start this water garden. I've never tried to grow a water Lilly. It's going to look great on the deck this summer. I'm still working on getting everything ready on the deck and will post more pictures of the deck at a later post.

Well this is all that was in the box when I opened it along with the great big copper bowl.

Humph! Not a happy camper. I've got a long wait for these to look like the cover on the box! I need lots of patience!

A trip to Big Lots helped! Look what I found some fake floating Lilly's.

There now that helps some! I'll let you know how the real plants are coming along as the spring and summer months continue along.

I also got these yummy berries at Sam's Club. If you know me, you know I love berries! Black berries are good but black raspberries are the best! I have many plants coming up wild in my yard this year. I am excited about the berries those plants will produce..

I had time to stop in Ross while Bear was being groomed. Ross Dress for Less is a great place for reasonable priced clothes and gift items. I got some Mother's day presents for my Mom but I'm going to have a hard time parting with them. I love this little bicycle planter with seashells all over it and can't stop thinking how great it's going to look when I get a plant in the lovely ocean colored pot I bought to go into the holder.

Mom used to like owls when we were younger so I also picked this little guy up for her. He's so cute he looks nice on my deck.

I got her some Betty Boop hand wash because my Mom's first name is Betty. Besides it is strawberry! I will be picking up a few other items for her but they are a secret for now.

The big lots trip was pretty good. I got new cushions for my outdoor deck furniture also. The plastic furniture is faded and I thought some cushions would make it look better. That summer sun is hard on my outdoor items. I like the pattern and colors of these cushions.

It hard to tell from this picture but these cushions are a nice yellow with turquoise flowers. The picture is not that good. I took it when the sun was almost all gone from the deck.

On the way home from big lots I saw a sign for MY DADS FARM. This is a craft show in a big old barn with many vendors. It is very nice. They also have wonderful baked goods and it is not far from where I live. I had to stop and see what was there. I made a few purchases. I purchased this lovely little wall hanging. I also got a shelf for in my kitchen.

I still am looking for the perfect place to hang this wall hanging. Do you see Mocha in the top of the picture just checking out my new wall hanging?

Brian was so happy, he and his Dad went hunting and Brian got his turkey. Woo hoo! Way to go Brian. You are great hunter just like your Dad!

Brian went trout fishing opening day and he caught more fish than his Dad! It was a chilly and rainy day and he was willing to stay out there fishing even when he could have went to the truck with his Dad to to get warmed up. Persistance pays off.

Brian is also playing baseball this year and I am looking forward to watching his team play and getting some pictures of all of them. Marlin and I take turns taking the boys to the games as they are on different teams. They travel far for some of their games. I need to get out that GPS and learn how to program it.
I really do enjoy watching my boys games. Baseball is a great sport in my opinion.

By Joanna Fuchs Did you make resolutions for the New Year? I have a few resolutions that I will be working on. I read somewhere that when you make your resolutions you should write them down. If they are written down you are much more likely to accomplish them. You should also write down how you are going to accomplish your resolutions. You are also more likely to accomplish them if you share them with a friend as an accountability partner. Well, here I am sharing them with my blog friends for accountability. Here are some of my resolutions and how I plan to accomplish them in the year 2010.

1. Give more time to God in 2010.

"Draw close to God , and God will draw close to you: James 4:8

I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40

Serving others helps me to serve God. It's all for God's Glory. I will continue to read my Bible and watch Joyce, Creflo, and Joel but I will concentrate on serving others.

2.Relationships

God wants relationships to matter the most to us. Four of the ten commandments deal with our relationship to God and the other six deal with our relationships with people.

RELATIONSHIPS not the acquisition of things. I will give more time to my relationships. Time equal Love.

LOVE means living the way God commanded us to live. As you have heard from the beginning his command is this: Live a life of love. 2 John 1:6

The Purpose Driven Life is a wonderful book written by Rick Warren. This book goes into much detail about my first two resolutions. I would encourage anyone reading this blog to read this masterpiece. If you have already read this book, then I encourage you to reread it!

3. Continue to work on being healthy.

I will continue to go to the Y. I will continue kickboxing, walking, jogging and other activities that get me up and moving. I want to be healthy for God's work and for my family and our relationships. I want to stay physically fit and strong. I see the results from losing weight last year. I no longer get heartburn and my energy levels are way up. I accomplish so much more when I am physically fit.

Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

My guys are pretty happy they got their hunting dogs for Christmas.
Meet Lucky and Samantha (Sam) for short. Brian said you can't name a hunting dog Fluffy. Hunting dogs don't look like fluffy's anyways if you ask me!

Garrett continues to take piano lessons and played The First Noel for us this Christmas. He did a great job!

Happy Summer and Happy Black Raspberry Season!

It's black raspberry season but hurry and get your berries because it will end soon!

Did you get your black raspberries yet? My sister, niece, and my boys all went black raspberry picking with me this year at Snyders in Chicora. We got quite a few berries even though it started to rain soon after we got there. Actually picking berries in the rain was quite refreshing.

I made some black raspberries pies from my berries and they were tasty! For recipes just look on my sidebar and you will find my old fashion black raspberry pie recipe.

My sister made black raspberry filled cookies. She used her recipe for raisin filled cookies for the dough and then she just took some black raspberries in the center of each cookie and sprinkled sugar on them. They were fabulous!

I tried a new recipe for black raspberries today and I wanted to share it with all you others who like black raspberries as much as I do. It is called~

Black Raspberry Layer Dessert

Crust

2 sticks butter

1 and a 1/2 cups flour

Filling

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup confectioner's sugar

1/4 cup milk

Topping

1 and 3/4 cups sugar

1/2 cup water

4 cups black raspberries

6 tablespoons cornstarch

12 ounces whipped topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and mix well with flour. Press into a 13-by-9inch baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool. Mix together ingredients for filling and pour over cooled crust. For the topping, mix together sugar, water, black raspberries and cornstarch in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook 3 minutes. Cool, pour on top of cream cheese layer, and spread evenly. Top with whipped topping. Refrigerate. Serves 12 to 16.

I'd like to introduce you all to the wonderful "Bear" He is the newest addition to our household. We are so happy to have such a cute little puppy. He has been keeping us busy as he is such a curious, mischievous little boy. He sure is fun!

Much of our spring and summer was spent watching ballgames. I'm so proud of both of the boys. We enjoyed watching their games! I'm thankful for all the dedicated people that work so hard behind the scenes to make this little town a great place to play baseball.

In other news, Brian got his first turkey on Saturday! It had a 4and 1/2 inch beard. He got it at 6:30am. I am so proud of him. I'm not surprised with a wonderful teacher like his Dad. Brian gets his hunting and fishing skill honestly from his dear Dad, Marlin.

Marlin cooked the turkey for us yesterday. He made us a lovely meal and we had my Mom and Dad come over to help us eat it. Marlin is actually a very good cook and he makes wonderful scalloped potatoes, turkey, and ham!

After we ate my Dad played some hoops with Brian and Garrett.

Andy is doing great. Andy and I enjoyed the lovely weather of Friday and Saturday. I brought Andy outside while I uncovered the rest of my perennials and planted flowers in my flower boxes. Then we listened to some music as we soaked in some rays. Andy always looks like he is smiling! He is such a joy and a wonderful friend to have! Here is a picture of him after I gave him a haircut.

Domino and Cinnamon our bunnies are doing fine. They also enjoyed the nice weather we had all weekend. This is Domino.

Dear Blog Friends,

Today we have freezing rain, ice, sleet, snow and just some bad, ugly weather. School has been cancelled to keep the children safe. The day is treacherous, dangerous, and ugly if you need to drive somewhere. Yet, this day could be considered quite beautiful if you are staying home and do not need to drive. The trees are covered in ice and they look so elegant with their shimmery and glistening coats of ice on their leafless branches. The ice sparkles like diamonds in a jewelry store. The whiteness of the snow on the ground reminds me of God's love and how we too can become pure, white and bright through his Son Jesus if we just accept Him as our Lord and Savior. If we admit our sins and transgressions we are forgiven by a loving God. A God who loved us enough to send his only Son to save us from our sins.

Yes, there is an ice storm today which reminds me what about life's storms? What storms in your life are you waiting out right now? When life tosses you about in the winds of the storms we need to remember to turn to GOD for strength and boldness. Psalms 138:3

Here are some bible verses to meditate on if you are weathering storms.

The eternal GOD is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, 'Destroy him!' Deuteronomy 33:27

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming,"The Lord is upright; he is my Rock and there is no wickedness in him."

When we go through life's storms, we need to remember it is those difficult times, when it seems as if everything goes against you and things seem treacherous, dangerous and ugly that our faith in God can help us to find the courage to continue on joyfully and victorious. Life's storms are necessary as they produce strength . They may come along as a check on our faith. Is our faith strong enough to rely on God, or do we run from God? I have learned that I must rely on God. The bigger the storm the more I need God. With GOD you can still be shimmering and glistening even during life's biggest storms.

Brian's First Buck and my "Man's Room"

Brian wanted me to show all of our friends in blog land his first deer. Anyone who lives in Western PA knows what a big deal hunting is around here. The first day of buck season was December 1, this year and there is no school on the first day of this season. Now Brian didn't get his deer the very first day. It took three weekends until he got one. Patience and persistence pay off. I love this picture because I can tell how very happy Brian is! We now have deer jerky, deer steaks, and deer bologna to feast on. I prefer the jerky.

Brian also loves to fish and we have a trophy fish he caught hanging on our wall. Now, I know this looks like one of those singing fish but this is a real fish Brian caught in crooked creek using a cray fish he got from the run that goes through our yard. The day he caught this fish there was a big fishing tournament going on in the Allegheny River. Although he was not a part of that tournament, no one in that tournament caught a fish as big as the one Brian caught that same day! This is a large mouth bass. It does not sing when you walk by it. Thank goodness!

What to do with all these items. Well they are in my "man's room". My man's room is actually my dining room. Hey a guy needs a place in the house for his things too. When I picked out this border I was thinking of my husband because it has guys hunting and fishing on it. It has deer and turkeys. Perfect for my guys. I did this room quite some time ago back when I had all the walls in the house white. I would paint them now if I had a choice. I still like the border though so I'm going to leave the walls white for now.

My favorite decoration is this nativity from home interiors that my Mom gave me. My Dad made the stable for me. I have little lights hanging in the stable and it looks so pretty all lite up. It is the first decoration that gets put out!

The electric candle on this shelf was a purchase this year. I love all the silver and gold of it. It is so glittery. The picture doesn't do it justice.

These Jim Shore Santa's have a nice country feel and are in my "man's room" where the deer , squirrels, and fish are hung.

The poinsettia was a YMCA fundraiser. I purchased it at my kickboxing class. I am attending class faithfully and am excited to still be losing weight. I am almost at the 30 lb. mark.

I used some ribbon to tie some CHRISTmas bulbs to my light fixtures.

My Mom made this Santa Claus from pretty punch. He is so cute!

These cute little pixies came from a sell at a church near by.
Marlin my darling husband had purchased this in Smicksburg (Amish country in Western PA) for his Mom as a Christmas present when we were dating. It lights up and I have some people in a sleigh I usually sit in front of it but I believe they are in a box I didn't open upstairs.

This ornament was from a friend of mine at church.

I loved the antique look of these snowmen ornaments and picked them up this year at Peebles.

Although I put away many of my teacups to make room for all the CHRISTmas decorations, I left some on my mantel above the fireplace. The teapot kitty was my Grandma's and I love it because who knew I would end up with a lovely Siamese kitty. I added a pretty floral around the candle to make it look CHRISTmas festive.

I wrapped some of my pictures in wrapping paper and added a bow. Pretty easy.

Just added some picks and ornaments to my cherub bowl. I like to leave this up all year and change it for each holiday.

Mom gave me this ceramic CHRISTmas tree. It's so pretty lit up.

This is our sun room. We added it on a couple years ago. I love sitting out here.

My Mom who is very artistic painted this cute Santa and Rudolph.

I just put a green and red bow on this cute teddy and displayed him by some of our cards we received out in the sun room.

Years ago I worked at Long John Silver's as an assistant manager. One of the customers made me this lovely bunny wreath. Who would know then that I now have two bunnies. (Well actually they are the kids but we all take care of them.)

A friend from church made me family snowman sign when I taught her children in Sunday School. The gingerbread boy and girl where a gift from my sister in law. She is so sweet.

We don't have heat in our little sun room so I got this electric fireplace at 380 auction in Monroeville. The pretty knit stockings were a gift from Jayne who knitted them herself years ago! I love them hanging on the fireplace!

This Santa was purchased at Arner's hardware in Ford City. Arner's has since gone out of business. The building was torn down and a new bank has been placed there. I used to find some pretty gifts there and wish we still had it in Ford City.

I'm not sure where I got this little Santa but he sure is cute. The snowman beside him says Jesus loves you Snow much! That is the truth!

I like the snowmen as they can be left out for a while.

I purchased this church at an antique shoppe. It lights up and looks so cool at night!

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Blog Friends,

Did you ever feel like just screaming when you keep trying and trying to make something work and it doesn't work for you? Well, that is how I have been feeling ever since Brian received his birthday gift of an electronic addition for the computer. After some investigating I decided I probably could hook it up to my computer for him. I mean after all, I figured out how to blog all on my all. I have fixed lots of things on the computer just by messing around with it long enough. When I tried to hook it up I found out I was one connection hook up cable short. I went to Best Buy and the young man that waited on us knew exactly what I needed and got me the right connection cable. I asked him a couple questions about installing the new product and asked him if I could hire him to put it in. I saw him roll his eyes as he told me "it's one step above a Heller Keller". Ummmm, you figure that one out. I thought that must mean I can do it!!!!!!!

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! UGH!!!!! UGH!!!!! UGH!!!!! When I call the support system even though this is made in USA the first woman I spoke to was from the Phillipe ans. Although she spoke very good English I had a hard time with her accent and was speaking to her on a cell phone. My cell died after an hour and a half on the phone with her. I believe we were getting close to solving the problem. Next woman the next day also had accent although I didn't find out where she was from. I thought we had it going but it still needs more work.

In other news Brian had his twelfth birthday recently! Brian had a sleepover with a few friends. I don't really know why they call that a sleepover because there wasn't much sleeping going on at all. More like lots of giggling, laughing, and talking.

It's hard for me to believe that my boy is now old enough to go hunting. He has been squirrel hunting and brought home some squirrels. I did not participate in eating them as I would much rather just look at them in the woods or photograph them. Cute little animals.

Speaking of animals. Brian got Domino for his birthday. A cute long eared bunny. Cinnamon doesn't like her and I can't keep them together. Cinnamon scared the bejeebers out of us when we put them in the same cage she yanked some of her fur out and tried to stomp on her. Cinnamon also peed on the side of her cage the other day. I think I read in the rabbit book that sometimes female bunnies don't like other female bunnies and I would say this is definitely the case with cinnamon.

Andy our beautiful little Pomeranian we got recently is doing quite well and I can say honestly that I am totally in love with him! I took him to pet smart last week and got him groomed and they fluffed him up so pretty! Mocha is still trying to be his friend and the other day was laying on top of Andy's little crate. (Andy loves his crate and spends much of his time there.) I bought Andy a softy bed at Ross but he doesn't lay in it at all he prefers his crate.

Praying for safe travel for those of you traveling over Thanksgiving and also giving thanks for my wonderful family and friends (including all my dear blog friends) this Thanksgiving! I'm praising God he is so good! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin Cake

Just a friendly reminder, it's your right!

Dear Blog Friends,

I'm sharing a recipe for delicious pumpkin cake today. It is one of my favorite fall desserts. My Mom used to make this for us and it tastes so good!

Pumpkin Cake from Betty H.

1 box yellow cake mix (save 1 cup for later)

1 stick melted margarine or butter

1 egg

mix good and pat in 9 X 13 greased and floured cake pan

In large bowl beat:

1 large can pumpkin

2/3 cup milk 3 eggs

1 and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

pour on top of other layer in cake pan.

Then crumble together and sprinkle on top:

Reserved 1 cup of cake mix

1/2 stick of margarine or butter

1/2 cup of white sugar.

Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes.

Good with some cool whip on top. Delicious warm!

A very easy to make fall snack

O.K. so you need something fast and quick for a last minute get together. Well this is super easy to make and take. Only two ingredients needed. Some pretty candy corn and some salted peanuts. How easy is that! This taste so good, kind of like one of those payday candy bars.

I made this about our church service yesterday. It was an awesome service. I hope you my dear blogging friends have a home church to attend because I truely love you and hope that you know Jesus is the way to eternity in heaven with God! If you ever have a chance to hear Chuck King preach I hope you will go. He is a great speaker and is not afraid to preach the truth. America needs the truth during this time of history. Our country was created by Christians who believed in God, one republic under God.

It seems our country is changing and our foundations built under God are being taken away. We as Christians need to stand together in love and return to God's way to return this wonderful USA back to what it was when the declaration of indepence was wrote.

Banana Cake Recipe

Banana Cake sure sounded good to me!

Made one for the family yesterday. I thought I'd share the recipe with you.

Banana Cake

Ingredients:

1 box yellow cake mix

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 cup oil

1/3 cup water

2 eggs

3 bananas (real ripe)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mash bananas. Mix soda and water together. Add to bananas. Then add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Put in greased cake pan. Bake for about 25 or 30 minutes until toothpick is clean. Cool, then ice.

Icing:

1 cup milk

4 heaping Tbsp. flour

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup crisco

1/2 cup margarine or butter

1 tsp. vanilla

Cook milk and flour till thick. Stirring with a wire whisk so it doesn't burn. Set aside to cool. Beat margarine, crisco and sugar together, till creamy. Add the cooled mixture, add vanilla.

I added my cooked flour and milk before it totally cooled and my icing was just a touch runny but Brian said the cake smelled so good he couldn't wait ... I had to agree it smelled so good!

Other updates, our newest additions Andy and Cinnamon bunny are doing fine. Here's a few pictures,

Andy is becoming more used to all of us and is starting to explore a little more around the house. He is such a sweet pea. Andy also seems to be growing accustomed to Mocha as he just kind of ignores him now instead of barking at him when Mocha comes to see him. They are so cute. We are still making a big fuss over Mocha so he doesn't feel jealous of Andy. Here are some pictures of the gifts Andy has received.

I received a gift from my neighbor and friend Judy. She made this herself. It is so pretty see the birds and the birdhouses! ( I feed the birds and have birdhouses all over the place here). It lights up and has such pretty fall colors and I love the scarecrow on the front! How thoughtful and I so appreciate it! Thank you Judy!

Galatians 5:22-23

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I really love these Bible verses. I have been striving for this fruit that Paul speaks of in my character. I know it is not me that can produce this fruit but that it is the work of God the Holy Spirit in me that will help me to continue on this journey of growth. Fruit grows, it starts as little buds, and then blossoms, and then turns into a hard fruit before it ripens and becomes fully mature. That is why I call it a journey because I am continually growing and maturing so that God's Holy Spirit shows in me. I sometimes take steps backwards and make mistakes, I'm not perfect but my journey with God continues, how about you, do you desire the fruit of the spirit in your life?

God is so good!

We are so happy today. We took our beautiful Siamese cat Mocha to the vet today for his annual checkup. While we were in the waiting room a pretty lady and her three handsome sons walked in with their adorable, little Pomeranian dog. The woman and I began chatting and she told me she had to find the dog a new home because her little boy had an allergic reaction. (She had a six year old, four year old and two year old) I knew she was sad about this. I really felt her pain. I know how much we can become so attached to our pets but understood the dilema of her littlest boys allergies. He had ended up in the ER because of the allergies. I mentioned that my boys have been wanting a dog for a long time. I unfortunatly felt that it would be hard for me to get them a puppy because of my work schedule. The time seemed right to say that I would be interested in her dog. I gave her my phone number that she could call me if she did decide for sure to find him a new home. When we came out of the exam room from Mocha's visit, she was still in the waiting room and she told me that if I wanted to wait I could take the dog home today. So that is what we did, we waited and we got to bring home Andy. Introducing the handsome Andy.

Such a blessing little Andy is to us. I'm so glad that we could help her and she could help us. I used to have two poodles and I really missed having a dog. God does know the desires of our hearts. Otherwise, how could of the timing have been so right for both of us. Andy needed a new home and we have the heart for him! I will be posting lots of pictures of Andy so his other family can see him anytime they want.

Sweet Andy weighs about five pounds. He is eleven years old. He is crate trained. We think he is adorable and so friendly!

The kids didn't have school today so they've been inviting all their friends to visit the newest addition to our family. They have waited so long for a dog and are so very excited to finally have a dog!

Mocha our fat cat is trying to figure this furry little dog out. They are slowly getting used to each other. I think they are eventually going to be great friends. See Mocha's ears at the bottom of this picture. Mocha is afraid which is funny. His tail keeps getting all big and fluffy.

Doesn't he look like such a happy boy. I'm so glad that we are able to welcome Andy to our home! Today is a very special day!

I decided to bake this cute teddy bear cookie for my crew. I thought I would be smart and add some zucchini to my peanut butter recipe. It sure isn't as pretty as the one at A Little Loveliness.

Zucchini, what was I thinking? Of course they didn't love it. Oh yes, they all thought it was adorable but they don't want green stuff in their cookies. We will try it again with just the peanut butter recipe no zucchini. I threw the rest of the left over zucchini peanut butter cookie bear out today. I am looking forward to trying this one again!

I also was given lots of home grown PA peaches and pears! A kind soul with an abundance of fruit trees brought these into the hospital to share! Thank You friend!

Not only are these pears pictured above art decor for my kitchen they are absolutely delicious! Good to eat one every day!

All the peaches were made into a peach pie! My family loved it! They didn't save one crumb!
